FS Jelgava U19 to face KA Akureyri on September 17 and October 1 in UEFA Youth League

FS Jelgava U19 will play Iceland’s KA Akureyri in the UEFA Youth League first round – September 17 in Jelgava and October 1 in Akureyri.

The dates and times have been confirmed for FS Jelgava U19’s UEFA Youth League (Youth League) first-round matches against Icelandic side KA Akureyri.

📍 First leg – September 17, 2025, at 16:00 at the Janis Lusis Stadium, Zemgale Olympic Center, Jelgava.
📍 Second leg – October 1, 2025, at 14:00 in Akureyri, Iceland.

Both teams faced logistical challenges when arranging flights and travel to the venues. While the chosen travel options may not be the most convenient, the players remain optimistic and eager to overcome the difficulties, aiming to deliver their best performance in order to reach the second round. The winner of this tie will face the youth team of PAOK (Greece).

The UEFA Youth League is a development competition, not a red carpet for stars. Its main goal is to give young players the chance to test themselves in international competition, promote both professional and personal growth, and ease the transition from youth to senior football.

In total, 86 youth teams take part in the competition – 36 UEFA Champions League clubs’ youth sides and 50 national youth champions.
